Steve Morgan is an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, and Chairman of Bridgemere. At the age of 21 he established Redrow, which he grew to be a FTSE 250 company, and one of the UK’s most successful homebuilders.

Steve stepped down as Chairman of Redrow in 2019 having guided the business to record levels of trading and profitability, with a turnover of £2.1 billion and profit before tax of £406 million. He founded the Steve Morgan Foundation in 2001, which is one of the largest funding charities in the UK. Steve has personally donated over £300 million to date.

In 1992 Steve received an OBE for Services to the Construction Industry and, in 2016, received a CBE for Philanthropic Services.

Sally joined the Steve Morgan Foundation as a trustee in 2015. With 30 years of commercial experience leading a successful recruitment firm, including conducting an MBO at 31, Sally brought highly transferable business and commercial skills to the Foundation. Her ability to ask the right questions and make sound assessments and judgments are an essential part of our approach to giving money away well.

Sally has always been passionate about making a difference to those in need and her philanthropy was well-established before joining the Foundation. She also has a strong, personal connection to our partnerships with Diabetes UK and JDRF – her son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 7, and Maggie’s, having had treatment for breast cancer herself. Sally was also the lead instigator of the highly successful Cradle to Career programme in North Birkenhead. Relatable and an excellent communicator, Sally relishes working with our partners to help deliver far-reaching, long-term change for those individuals most in need.

Vincent joined us in 2000 and is one of the longest serving trustees. A qualified solicitor with considerable commercial experience, he was previously the Legal Director of the Bridgemere group of companies – he has now retired. Vincent has played a key part in supporting the Foundation’s growth from its beginnings to evolving into the established, impactful organisation that we are today.

Throughout his time with us, Vincent has developed a greater appreciation of the difficulties that others face in life and how they overcome them, together with the amazing work that so many people are doing in the charity sector. His free time often involves cycling, gardening, travelling looking after grandchildren and classic car rallying!

A qualified solicitor with a background in various commercial roles and currently a Deputy District Judge for Wales, Rhiannon joined us in 2006 and is one of our longest serving trustees. She received an OBE in 2008 for Services to Education. Rhiannon is passionate about supporting charities in the region and having retired recently from her post as Head of the Education Tribunal for Wales after 20 years service, she takes a particular interest in charities dealing with Additional Learning Needs and education generally.

Rhiannon views the Foundation as innovative and inclusive, and regards visits to the charities we support as one of the most important aspects of our role, whether during the application process or as part of an ongoing relationship. She enjoys walking, pilates, reading and spending time with family and friends, and her iPhone is the one gadget that she cannot live without!

Nicole joined us in March 2025 and is responsible for all treasury-related matters. Specifically, she oversees the investment of the Foundation’s endowment across a wide range of funds and sectors, and all accounting and cashflow matters, in addition to the general trustee duties.

Nicole has over 20 years’ experience across the financial services sector and is a qualified chartered accountant. Her experience includes a 15-year career at Deloitte where she was a Director, before moving to DSW Capital plc where she led the business through an IPO to become one of the youngest female executives on the AIM market. And, in 2023 she was shortlisted for CFO of the year at the Women in Finance Awards. She is currently the Group Finance Director of the Bridgemere group of companies and Non-Executive Director of Regional REIT plc.

Nicole is passionate about social mobility and education and was honored to be asked to join the Board of Trustees.

Her three young children take up much of her spare time but she also enjoys open water swimming and is a long suffering Leeds United fan.

Jane became a trustee in July 2023, following her planned retirement from her role as Director of Grants. Jane started with us in 2007 as our first employee and has been integral to the development of the Foundation, managing its growth into one of the UK’s leading foundations today.

Jane worked in France, Germany and London before moving to Cheshire. She was attracted to join us by the opportunity to contribute to work which is for the good of the community and changes lives. Her passion for the cause still remains as strong today – committed to delivering philanthropy at its best. Jane has many interests outside of work but she is most at home in the garden, spending time in the one item she cannot live without – her greenhouse!

A qualified chartered accountant, Brian joined us in 2019 and is the lead trustee on our partnerships with the LFC Foundation and Everton in the Community. He is currently a self-employed consultant, having spent 33 years with PwC, 20 of those as a partner. Brian has always been passionate about supporting worthy causes and was attracted to join the Foundation because of the positive difference that we make to so many disadvantaged people.

Brian particularly admires our teamwork and ‘can do attitude’ which enables us to get things done quickly. His free time consists of watching sport including supporting his football team, Everton FC, spending time at the races and walking on the Llyn Peninsula.

Liam joined in 2022 and is responsible for leading our team, working with the Board of Trustees on strategic direction and supporting partners on the development and delivery of projects. With over 20 years’ experience in the Third Sector, he was most recently the Deputy Director of the Manchester Diocese Board of Education.

Having encountered first-hand the significant impact that the Foundation was having across Liverpool, where he lives, Liam also has a personal connection with one of the causes closest to our heart – finding a cure for type 1 diabetes. So, the opportunity to lead the ongoing, life-changing work of the Foundation was too good for him to turn down! Liam is married to Kate and they have four teenage children.

Paul works with our CEO and Board of Trustees on the development of the foundations long term strategy, overseeing funding for place-based work, education grants, as well as reviewing impact, evaluation and learning. With extensive experience across the public and voluntary sectors, Paul brings a proven ability to design, implement, manage and evaluate effective programmes at scale.

Before joining the Foundation, Paul held senior positions at Right to Succeed, one of our strategic partners, where he helped lead the charity from an innovative start-up to a sustainable, reputable organisation of 50 staff doing fantastic work in the most disadvantaged communities. He has appeared on the BBC discussing system change solutions to reducing youth unemployment and debuted as a young professional footballer at the age of 17! One of Paul’s favourite things to do outside of work is sit down with his family to watch Gladiators.

Ruth started with the Foundation in 2020, working on the Community Match Challenge funding with the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. She took over responsibility for Regional Grants early in 2023 and works with organisations to establish their eligibility for funding, assessing applications (including organisation visits) and reporting to Trustees. She brings experience from a variety of backgrounds including retail, HR management and education of children with additional needs.

One of Ruth’s greatest achievements whilst working with us was being part of a team who processed over 120 grants totalling £20m for regional organisations and individuals in just 59 days! Not to be daunted by a challenge, Ruth has climbed Snowdon in the middle of the night to watch the sun rise and worked on the door of a nightclub in Liverpool!

Andi began working with us in 2019 and provides support to Liam along with the team and the trustees, in all aspects of grant admin and logistics. She has past experience in a variety of HR roles within various commercial businesses – the opportunity to be an advocate for the Foundation particularly attracted her to work with us. Highly organised and efficient, Andi keeps us on our toes and plays a key role in enabling the team to achieve all the amazing things we do!

Working as part of a small team, her greatest achievements so far include processing over 600 regional Covid-19 Emergency Grants totalling £5.5 million, and supporting the processing of over 120 grants match funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, totalling £20 million. Unsurprisingly, Andi’s ‘must have’ gadget is her iPhone and she has represented Wales in Gymnastics!
