Regional grants: driving systemic change

The Steve Morgan Foundation is committed to making a transformative impact across our region. Each year, we will award 8 to 10 regional grants, creating a unique opportunity for exceptional organisations to lead long-term, systemic change. 

Grants of £250,000 – £500,000 over three years are available for eligible not-for-profit organisations tackling the root causes of social disadvantage affecting children, young people, and their families. 

We are looking for ambitious, high-performing organisations that can deliver sustainable solutions to improve education, access to provision, and employment,  which create lasting change across diverse communities.

Our areas of focus

Our grant making will deliver longer-term and larger scale investments around three key themes. These themes draw on the success of past and current strategic partnerships that have demonstrated proven results.

Education

Improving education outcomes for all young people - setting solid foundations to build a successful future.

Access to provision

Expanding access to provision for those most in need of support with health, housing, homelessness, youth opportunities and facilities.

Employment

Increasing careers support and employment opportunities for young people and adults.

Our regional grant FAQs

Here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions about our regional grants. If you need further information, do get in touch. Please note that all funding is provided at the discretion of the trustees and on occasions, trustees may make exceptional funding awards as they see fit.

Our regional grants support not-for-profit organisations that focus on tackling the root causes of social disadvantage across three key themes - education, access to provision and employment.

Our regional grants cover work being delivered in Merseyside, North Wales, North Shropshire and Cheshire, west of the M6.

Regional grants can cover salaries, ongoing project costs and core costs for a period of three years.

Grants of between £250k - £500k over three years are available for eligible organisations.

We welcome proposals to match fund with other funders.

Firstly, please use our eligibility checker to see if you meet the criteria for our regional grants. If you are eligible to apply, you will be directed to the online application form. If you are unable to access the eligibility checker online, please contact the team directly for help.

There is no specified time period for processing grant applications, but as a foundation our team works in line with the IVAR principles aiming to make grant reporting a shared, more meaningful and mutually beneficial experience. 

Applications must be accompanied by up-to-date published accounts 
and details of the organisation’s reserves policy.

Our regional grants application process will be open all year round. 

We will not be providing direct funding support through our regional grant open application process for organisations with an annual turnover of less than £300k, however through our place based priority, we are confident that smaller, grass roots organisations will continue to benefit from our funding support.
