Who do you fund?

The Steve Morgan Foundation specialises in supporting organisations helping children and families as well as the elderly, disabled and socially isolated. We will consider any work which has a positive effect on their welfare and quality of life, or which expands the opportunities and life choices for young people in this region. Local branches of national charities which are based within the remit area, or programmes delivered locally by organisations working on a national basis, are not generally supported.

If my application is unsuccessful can I apply again?

We suggest that unsuccessful applicants wait a year before reapplying. Please telephone before submitting a further application so that we can be sure that this is eligible.

Do you match fund?

We don't 'match fund' as such, but we are happy to consider applications which ask us to contribute to a project as one of several funders.

How do I apply?

Your organisation/project needs to be in our geographic area and meet our criteria. Before submitting, please telephone for an informal chat to check that your proposed application falls in line with policy. Our telephone number is 01829 782808.

Do I have to phone you before I apply?

Applying for funding and completing application forms can be time consuming so a quick chat with us can save everyone a lot of time. If you are eligible to apply, you can go ahead with your application in the knowledge that it's not going to get turned down at the first stage.

Will you come and visit us?

Yes, if your application is eligible, we will arrange to visit to talk more about what you do and why you need funding. It's all very informal at this stage but you will need to have facts and figures to hand to help us complete your application.

I don't have audited accounts does this matter?

Generally, an organisation must have been in existence for a minimum of two years and able to produce audited accounts for the same.

How will my application be assessed?

Once we have established that your application is eligible, we will arrange to visit you. A report will then be given to our trustees for consideration. Trustee meetings are held regularly throughout the year and applications are considered in chronological order.

I'm not sure how much money we need – can I still apply?

It's important that you tell us in your application the full extent of the funding you need to achieve your aims and objectives so that we can best assess how we can contribute.

When are funding decisions made?

Trustee meetings are held regularly throughout the year and there are no specific dates for applications to be received. However, organisations should be aware that applications are considered in chronological order and it can take up to six months for the process to be completed.

What happens after I receive a grant?

We are committed to maximising the effectiveness of our funding, so all awards are monitored to assess their success in fulfilling the objectives of the Steve Morgan Foundation to 'make a difference'. Methods of monitoring will vary depending on the type and purpose of the funding and we will agree then with you. We expect regular updates from all the organisations we fund.
