With rising anti-social behaviour, high crime rates and declining youth facilities, the Steve Morgan Foundation has invested £300,000 over three years to allow Wrexham AFC Foundation to expand its Street Dragons and Young Leaders programmes, invest in community pitch regeneration, and create safer spaces for young people to thrive.
Wrexham AFC Foundation is the football club’s official charity. It uses the power of football and the club to positively change the lives of children and young people, bringing the club into the community through engaging programmes across Wrexham and North Wales. It’s Street Dragon’s programme is an exciting initiative aimed at empowering young people through football with regular sport sessions aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour, as well as strengthening communities. The Young Leaders programme is designed to nurture young people, improve wellbeing and boost confidence to develop future role models.
With our backing to scale up these community-based programmes, Wrexham AFC Foundation aims to build a generation equipped with life, leadership, and teamwork skills whilst also revitalising community spaces to turn derelict pitches into safe, active hubs.
