Due to an unprecedented demand for wheelchairs, Whizz Kidz, the UK’s leading charity for young wheelchair users, was forced to close its waitlist for the first time in its history. As a result, children who desperately need their help can’t even apply and there are currently more than 1,000 children waiting for essential mobility equipment. Funding from the Steve Morgan Foundation has enabled the waitlist to reopen in the areas we support, giving children who are waiting for wheelchairs the chance to reclaim their independence and the childhoods they deserve.
Whizz Kidz provides personalised and bespoke wheelchairs for children from 18 months to 18 years, but with our financial support this age range will be extended to 25 years, helping more disabled young people unlock their potential. They will be provided with the equipment and skills they need to live life as independently as possible, enabling them to enjoy all of the opportunities and activities that so many others take for granted ‐ at home, at school, at work and beyond.
