Tom Set For New Adventures

Young Tom is all set for plenty of new adventures after receiving a brand new Mybility All Terrain wheelchair which will increase his independence.

The Steve Morgan Foundation joined forces with Helsby Golf Club’s Powered Wheelchair Appeal and residents from Tom’s village to fund the overall cost for the new wheelchair, officially handed over at the Golf Club on Wednesday evening.

Tom, from Cheshire, attends Hebden Green Special School and is quadriplegic and suffers from cerebral palsy.

He has limited speech and the only independence he has comes from his wheelchair.

The new all-terrain wheelchair, which cost £21, 643 overall, will offer him far more opportunities, including being able to access school activities and family outings in more comfort, including visiting the countryside.

Tom has already visited his grandparents’ farm and is certainly making the most of new adventures since receiving the wheelchair.

Jane Harris, Regional Grants Director with the Steve Morgan Foundation, attended the official handover this week in what is the second collaboration between the Foundation and Helsby Golf Club of an ongoing partnership to support local youngsters.

The funding awarded was one of the Enable grants provided by the Steve Morgan Foundation to fund specialised equipment for people of all ages.  Click here to find out more.
