Maggie’s boss praises Steve Morgan Foundation

The chief executive of the cancer support charity Maggie’s has praised the Steve Morgan Foundation in its 20th anniversary year.

In June, Maggie’s moved into a brand new purpose-built centre, funded by the Steve Morgan Foundation, within the grounds of the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Wirral.

The new centre, Maggie’s Wirral at the Steve Morgan Foundation Building, will provide more space, allowing Maggie’s professional staff to deliver more of the charity’s core programme, courses and support groups.

Dame Laura Lee, chief executive of Maggie’s, said: “For 20 years the Steve Morgan Foundation has done an incredible job of supporting those who need it most across the North West of England and Wales.

“With passion, drive and commitment they have helped improve the lives of countless people facing a range of challenges and they continue to help people living with cancer through their extraordinarily generous support of Maggie’s.

“Thanks to the Steve Morgan Foundation we have just opened our first permanent cancer support centre in Merseyside, on the grounds of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Wirral and are planning a second on the grounds of the New Royal Liverpool Hospital.

“Living with cancer is extremely tough, but doing so through a pandemic brings added stress, fear, trauma and anxiety, meaning the need for psychological and practical support is greater than ever.   We couldn’t do what we are doing without the extraordinary generosity of the Steve Morgan Foundation and I would like to send my thanks and congratulations to everyone involved is this, their 20th anniversary year.”

The Steve Morgan Foundation was launched in 2001 by Redrow founder Steve Morgan.
