The amount of money awarded by the Steve Morgan Foundation Covid-19 Emergency Fund has topped the £3.7m mark.

A total of £3,719,244 has been shared between 375 awards since the initiative was launched on March 23 to help charities across Merseyside, North Wales and Cheshire struggling with the impact of Covid-19.

From tackling isolation and loneliness in the elderly to protecting the mental health of the young, from funding food hampers for the vulnerable to helping victims of domestic violence, the Covid-19 Emergency Fund has helped nearly 400 good causes.

The grants, which have helped nearly one million people in seven-and-a-half weeks, have allowed several charities to stay open during the current pandemic and stay in touch with some of the most vulnerable people in society.

It was back in March that philanthropist and businessman Steve Morgan pledged up to £1m a week to charities to help some of the most vulnerable sectors of society in the first 12 weeks of the pandemic.
