Charities Say Thank You

We have been so pleased to that the Steve Morgan Foundation’s Emergency Fund, set up after Steve pledged up to £1million a week for an initial 12 weeks to help charities through the Covid-19 pandemic, has been able to have such an impact on so many communities in our supported regions.

Below are some of the messages received from charities and not-for-profit organisations which have received emergency funding since the fund was launched just three weeks ago.

I would like to congratulate you on the work that you are doing to support people in the most difficult of desperate situations. Vicky Keeley, CEO – Sefton Carers

Thank you so much I want to cry again. This is that first call while I was in Costco all over again! Please believe me when I say the Steve Morgan Foundation are truly amazing and keeping so many charities alive! I took such a risk not sending staff home and I am so happy I made the correct decision. Please all stay safe! Ema Wilkes – Neo Community

I think the Foundation’s recent swift and significant philanthropy to charities in the current situation is exemplary and an example of real philanthropic leadership.  Karen Addington, CEO – JDRF

We’ve delivered 7,000 books, 500 activity packs and a lot of Easter Eggs and this wouldn’t have been possible without the help from the Steve Morgan Foundation.  Diane Clark, Founder – Passion for Learning

Thank you so much for this emergency funding, it is very heart-warming, and is very much needed at this moment to ensure our families have everything they need and can stay safe and reassured.  As you know, some of our families comprise of some elderly grandparents, some can’t go out and some can but have to take children with them.   A huge thanks to Steve Morgan Foundation, people who care about people. Eva Dean – Kinship Carers

Many thanks for the support being offered from the Foundation. We have had many sleepless nights over the past few weeks and this support cannot be underestimated. Phil Longworth, CEO – Bradbury Fields

I don’t believe we could have got through the last two weeks without the £45,730 award from the Steve Morgan Foundation. This week alone we’ve spent £8,000 on 16 tonnes of food. We’ve virtually doubled the number of people we were working with before Covid-19. We’ve been described as a ‘Godsend’ by some of the people we’re helping and I know we’re making a difference. Rita Lewis, Founder – The Port Grocery

Thank you so much to you and your team for this much needed emergency funding.  We are so very grateful for this and we do believe that this immediate help will save our social enterprise.  The speed in which the Foundation have acted is incredible and credit to you all. Sue Oliver – RainbowBiz CIC

This evening (31stMarch) I was faced with having to close the Peace Foundation, a charity that, established after the IRA bombing in March 1993, has operated for 25 years. It helps at least 10,000 children a year, many of whom have been affected by terrorism, including the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017. The emergency grant from the Steve Morgan Foundation has stopped that, and means key members of the team are now secured for the emergency period, and our beneficiaries will receive vital support when they need it most.  I don’t think any of you will ever know how important your intervention is.  We are so grateful, quite emotional and the two words of ‘thank you’ do not seem adequate. Nick Taylor, Chief Executive – Peace Foundation

Thank you so much for your email and for your kind grant towards our emergency Covid-19 appeal for a temporary ward which will extend patient care at St Rocco’s Hospice at this time.  We really appreciate the support offered by Steve Morgan Foundation. Nicola Ryder – St Rocco’s Hospice

Wow – that was a quick decision, as I only spoke to Lindsay yesterday!  I am absolutely delighted with this offer.  Thank you so much!!  What an amazing thing you, Steve, and all your team, are doing at this horrendous time.  You all deserve a lot of credit for this amazingly efficient and quick response.  We are very grateful for your organisation’s support!!  Simply amazing generosity! Neil Frackleton, CEO – Sefton Women’s and Children’s Aid

Thank you so much for this. I certainly didn’t anticipate such a speedy response. Referrals are through the roof. Just this afternoon we have had to pay for hotel spaces for two urgent cases referred by Cheshire Police. I’m hopeful the PCC will offer support with this moving forwards. You may have seen in the news that there have been nine domestic homicides in the past ten days in the UK. This is triple the national average already. Terrifying times for so many. This grant will really help us to manage it. Saskia Lightburn Ritchie, CEO – Cheshire Without Abuse

Please pass on our sincerest thanks to the SMF Emergency Fund Team, for their support of the Hope Centre and its projects. Please know your kindness allows us to continue to support the vulnerable and disadvantaged of St Helens during these testing times. Sarah McDonagh, Development Manager – The Hope Centre

From making the application to the Steve Morgan Foundation to getting the money in our bank account was less  than a week. Some organisations can take six months to make a decision so the speed is vital. £47,100 is a significant amount of money and we’re very grateful to the Steve Morgan Foundation. Lee Pennington – The Open Door Centre
