A Magical Afternoon

Nearly 250 children who have benefitted from the work of the Steve Morgan Foundation enjoyed a fantastic festive afternoon at the Foundation’s annual Christmas party at Carden Park Hotel, near Chester.

The packed Carden Suite was a hive of fun and activity as those children, their parents or guardians, and charity leaders joined together for a feast of entertainment including the appearance of Disney characters and Super Heroes from the Jumping Jacks company.

There was also a rousing performance of Christmas songs from the brass band of the Sistema Cymru’s Codi’r To Music (Raise the Roof) charity, a schools’ music programme in North Wales that has received funding from the Steve Morgan Foundation.

“This is the fourth time we have put on this party, and this was the best one yet,” said Sally Morgan, one of several of the Foundation’s trustees who attended the party.

“It was fantastic to once again see so many of the children who are supported by the Steve Morgan Foundation, either via the charities we support or the Enable programme which provides them with specialised equipment.

“Many of the children are suffering from disabilities or life-limiting conditions, and their courage – and that of their families – is an inspiration to us all.

“There was a wonderful and magical atmosphere in the room, and hopefully everyone who came along went home in a really festive mood and ready to enjoy a happy Christmas.”

The Steve Morgan Foundation would like to thank Carden Park Hotel, who provided the room free of charge and discounted the food served to guests as sponsors of the event.

Other activities within the room included the visit – of course – of Santa Claus, various games including Pass the Parcel, face painting, balloon modelling and a sing-a-long.

Charities present as well as Codi’r To included the Central Cheshire Buddy Scheme; Dads, Lads and Lasses; The Fillies GFC; Neo Community Café; SPACE; Passion for Learning; YKids; Cheshire Downs Syndrome Support Group; Croxteth Family Matters; Daffodils; Gilbrook School; Netherley Youth & Community Initiative; Sundowns Wirral and Powys Carers.

The Steve Morgan Foundation has enjoyed another very busy year and is on target to exceed last year’s record giving of £7.4million to so many fantastic charities in its supported regions.
